ABOUT Let's Go

Let's Go is the trading name of Let's Go Educate Limited (formerly Mainz Limited).  This company is owned by ex-staff of the The Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand (MAINZ). In 2023 Te Pukenga closed the Auckland campus. See the feature in the NZ Musician magazine Mainz had many successful alumni and staff, many of whom have won awards such as:


• APRA silver scroll awards

• Aotearoa Music Awards (single of the year, album of the year, biggest selling, Pacific Category, Rock Category, Hip Hop Category, Electronic music, Folk, Best Producer, Best Engineer

• Grammy awards (won and nominated)


A group of ex-staff and associates were concerned about the declining opportunities for vocational music provision in the country and so Let's Go was formed.


Let's Go then is trading name of the Private Training Establishment (tertiary education organisation) that is registered with the New Zealand's Qualification Authority (NZQA) (MOE # 4420). 


At the moment, we have one department - Let's Go Music.  




Dr Mark Baynes

Dr Mark Baynes is a jazz pianist, specialising in Afro-Cuban music, with extensive international experience and over fifteen years of tertiary teaching. Holding a doctorate in Musical Arts,

Mark specialises in performance, composition, improvisation, and theory.

Mark has collaborated with award-winning artists including Latin Grammy Award-winner Mireya Ramos, Troy Kingi, and Claire Gowan, contributed as a guest arranger for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, served as a musical director in the Middle East, and toured with the UK’s Tony Christie. As part of the duo Goldsmith Baynes, he co-created the acclaimed debut album E Rere Rā. His student-centred approach empowers aspiring musicians to realise their full creative potential.

Josh Sorenson

Josh Sorenson is a dynamic musician, educator, and co-director of Let’s Go Music. With over two decades of experience in performance, songwriting, and production, he brings a wealth of expertise to his craft. A Master of Arts graduate with international touring credentials, Josh’s work reflects both his versatility and passion for music. Josh has collaborated with leading artists in the New Zealand music scene on projects spanning diverse genres and creative platforms. His expertise extends to designing innovative curricula, including DAW-focused courses, and developing performance-driven programs that celebrate artistry and collaboration. As an educator, Josh is passionate about empowering students to find their unique voice, master their craft, and confidently navigate the evolving music industry. Committed to fostering creativity and innovation, he is dedicated to shaping the next generation of music makers.

Dr Christine Fenton

Dr Christine Fenton has been working in education leadership and management for many years.  She is an experienced teacher and has held management positions across the sector in a wide variety of subject areas - science, health, music, engineering, teaching, health & safety, arts, from foundation level to graduate diploma.  All of which means she has seen many ways to approach teaching and learning and is innovative in programme design, academic quality and assessment, always looking for the best ways to support learners to achieve their goals. 

She was part of a team that were the recipients of a Prime Minister's Excellence in Educational Leadership Award and was a Kiwibank New Zealander of the year 2017 Local Hero for services to the community as a youth advocate.
