You can now apply to get credits towards your NCEA from your Trinity London music examinations.


NCEA credits for Trinity music candidates

If you have passed a Trinity College London music examination (Rock & Pop, or Classical & Jazz), you can apply to Let’s Go to be assessed against the NCEA achievement standards below. We use evidence from your Trinity exam to assess you under our NZQA consent to assess. 

Credits are awarded by NZQA when we report your results.

Evidence

  • Your Trinity examiner’s report or official report of results. On its own, this can support an Achieved result.
  • To be considered for Merit or Excellence, or where your report doesn’t show everything a standard requires (for example, the length of your repertoire and other requirements), you’ll also need direct evidence of you performing, such as a video or audio recording. It doesn’t have to be from your Trinity exam. A concert, recital or school performance is fine.


If your exam was face-to-face and you have no recording, you can still apply. We’ll assess you on your report, and you can add a recording later if you’d like to be considered for a higher grade. We will talk to you about what we need.

You must be a domestic student: a New Zealand citizen or resident (including Australian citizens and residents living in New Zealand). If you’re at a New Zealand school on a visa, including as a domestic time-bound student, please contact us before applying.
